Interview // TICON - Filip Mardberg & Fredrik Gilenholt

[b:b3gr0csi]1. So what can you tell about yourself, where you from, your interests, hobies?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: We are Filip Mardberg and Fredrik Gilenholt and we live in malmoe which is located in the south of Sweden. We started off 10 years ago producing dancemusic and at that time it was our biggest intrest and hobby, now when we can live of our music it is not really our hobby anymore but we still have the gloing passion and feeling for music as we had 10 years ago!! [b:b3gr0csi]2. What got you working togehter?[/b:b3gr0csi] Fredrik: Filip went to the same school and is good friend with my little brother so we have known eachother since we were kids. So one day i had a party at my place and filip came and liked the music i played and wanted to make some tunes together. so after the party filip stayed and on my old amiga 500 we made the first track, with samples from robert miles "children" hehe... And after that we just kept on going. [b:b3gr0csi]3. Aaaand what was the first equipment you bought for your studio? [/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: haha? this was souch a long time ago, the first machine we had was an old rock-drum mudule and a S50 sampler that we had borrowed from a friend (it sounded shit) but after working all summer we aforded to buy an Roland MC303 and some months later a Novation basstation? We actually still use the basstation! [b:b3gr0csi]4. If you had to choose, in your opinion which album do you preffer more rewind or aero?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: It is 2 quite different albums, we like them both in different ways, Rewind was a turningpoint in both musicwise and in our carrers and that album is really close to our hearts. It is really heard as an artist to deliver a good second album that lives up to the expectations but i think that we really sucseded with that and that makes Aero to a album wich we are very proud of! To answer the question we dont really favorise any one of them, we like them both. [b:b3gr0csi]5. By some djs, your album rewind has been the turning point in trance, whats your opinion?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: When we created Rewind we tryed to make music that we missed on the trance scene, we wanted to make groovy trance and focus on the hips instead of the brean. To make "down to earth" music was our goal and i think we suceded with that. [b:b3gr0csi]6. When you started producing your own music, and had no releases, who did you look up to?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: Back then we bought almost every hardtrance and goatrance 12" we could find? We got big insperation from artists like Prana, Psycheas, hallucinogen and so on. We used to go to parties just to meet the artists that played live there, we used to wait for them untill they were going of stage and then herassing them with questions on how to make music. Questions like; What syntersizers do u use mister Shakta? Haha? feels really strange that people come up to us and ask this questions to us now, if we only knew that then!! [b:b3gr0csi]7. Tell us what were your three best gigs ever?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: Hmmm.. it is a very hard question, there is many factors that plays in, like if we have a good croud, good promotors ans so on. But we went to the carribian now for newyears to play on this massive party in the beach, that was an amazing gig? We allso had some good expiriences in New York qause we really love that city. Voov expirience in germany was allso very nice. [b:b3gr0csi]8. Have you heard for croatian scene? You got to work on same single as dogma 3000, and what do you think about them?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: We never been in croatia so we really dont know anything about the scene there. Is dogma 3000 from croatia? Did not know that, they are really good! [b:b3gr0csi]9. If you had to give one piece of advice to young artists, which are producing electronic music what would it be?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: The best advise is to keep on making music... the more u produce the better gets. It`s all about training, your ears and the way to arange your track.Another good thing to do about bad soundpicture is to listen to a track similar to the one you are making and swith between them.in that way it`s easy to hear your problems in the picture [b:b3gr0csi]10. What's the Swedish trance scene like at the moment? Are you able to get out much and play at many local parties?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: NO... The scene here in Sweden is really petty since the police had some big rades here some years ago, they even invested in a policeforce thats called "the rave comission" wich aim is to stop partys at any cost. The only thing that organicers can do is to arrange clubs that closes at 1 ore 3 in the morning... We recently played at a club here and it opened at 11 and closed 2 so every dj had one ohur, we had one hour then it closed!! no good. [b:b3gr0csi]11. Any projects for the future, give us a hint?[/b:b3gr0csi] Ticon: A while ago we had a period when we were really tired of trancemusic so we looked to other insperations like housemusic. We felt like it was time to try and produce something different from Ticon since we had been doing that for souch a long time and ?New Disco Science Alliance? was born, we are still wayting for 2 releases on SOG rec and TUNE IN rec, they are expected to be relased this winter. We allso just finished a RMX for Son Kite under this name? Now we have the good ticon spirit back again so we just started working on our new Ticon album, lets se how that turns out!! Nice talking to you guys, thanks. Ticon: Thank U. Note: Не знам кой го взимал и правил, взех го от сърбите // оттук: http://www.psygarden.org/forum/index.php?board=11.0 //
